Oi

I am Valeria. Brazilian born and New Jersey raised.

Some of the things that make me, me: I like food. I think about food, live, breathe food. Savory, spicy, simple, complex all types of food!!! I absolutely love cooking.  And I love sharing what I cook with loved ones. Besides food-related ventures I also love reading and learning new things, exploring new places and even though I am an introvert, I love meeting new people.

My love for cooking started at a young age. From watching my grandmothers pour their hearts out in the kitchen to make something amazing with simple ingredients. They used what was available to them in order to feed large families and they did it with humble graciousness. Gradually I saw how cooking was more than just feeding physical hunger. It was a way to create and to show love.

Due to my love for reading, I have always wanted to write. I have wanted to start a blog where I can write not only about food but also about my ideas, thoughts, and experiences.  I have delayed it since 2009 when I first thought about starting one. I even kept a notebook for years with ideas and logs that I could have done, which at a regretful moment of shame for not following up on my idea, I threw out a while ago.

There were many reasons that stopped me from starting the blog, some being; not knowing how to begin, lack of time and the biggest one of all, fear of ridicule.  What if I wasn’t interesting enough? What if nobody liked my recipes? All the what-ifs paralyzed me for a long time.

I have decided to get out of my comfort zone and begin this already. I don’t know if my writing will be any good, if anyone will read what I write or try out my recipes. I can’t keep waiting for the right timing, for when I know more about blogging and photography or any other excuse, I have told myself.

There it is a little of myself, with time we will get to know each other more.
